Hilaria Baldwin announced a new baldwinito will join the six children she already has with Alec Baldwin (aka, Carmen Gabriela; Rafael Thomas; Leonardo Ángel David; Romeo Alejandro; Eduardo Pau Lucas, who was just born in September 2020; and a daughter, María Lucía Victoria, who followed shortly after in February 2021 via surrogate.) (...yes, the Baldwins had a daughter via surrogate while pregnant with a son.) This is in addition to Baldwin’s daughter from his previous marriage to Kim Bassinger, Ireland, who has to watch on helplessly as her future inheritance dwindles.

"We were pretty sure our family was complete, and we're beyond happy with this surprise,” Hilaria said in her Instagram announcement.
Hilaria, of course, was actually born Hillary Lynn Hayward-Thomas, in Boston—something we learned when Twitter user @lenibriscoe wrote a thoroughly damning and delicious Twitter thread in December 2020 presenting the evidence that “Hilaria” had been overtly pretending to be a Spanish woman for over a decade. The thread included clips of Hilaria pretending she couldn’t remember the English word for cucumber on a cooking segment, the fact that her family tree can be traced back to the US since it was a British colony, and all the interviews in which she insisted Spanish was her native language because she was, in fact, born in Spain, rather than her native Massachusetts.

Prior to the scandal, Hilaria had been primarily known for her post-baby “bounce back”: posting photos of herself contorting into upside-down yoga poses less than two weeks after giving birth and breastfeeding in lingerie while seductively gazing into the camera. Her dedicated subreddit has since exploded with screenshots, rants, and evidence of the ways Hilaria uses her children as props and may or may not have—allegedly!!!—used surrogates and wore an—alleged!!!—fake baby bump during some of her previous “pregnancies” too, which would explain the miraculous “bounce back” after every baby. But, again: THIS IS ALL ALLEGED AND HAS NO BASIS IN ANY OFFICIAL REPORTING OR FACT. Check out the subreddit, tho.

This pregnancy comes on the heels of Alec accidentally shooting crew member Halyna Hutchins—who subsequently died—with a prop gun on the set of his movie Rust in October 2018. While no formal charges have been filed, it’s safe to say the Baldwins are going to be in litigation hell for the foreseeable future—the Hutchins family is suing—and it raises questions about the timing of the pregnancy, too.
Alec, for his part, has seen his stock plummet since Hilaria’s grift was first exposed, and now, well.
It was disturbing to me, personally, when Hilaria almost immediately hopped back on Instagram following the incident to continue posting her superfluous and obnoxious baldwinito content (including the family happily posing in their Halloween costumes less than two weeks after Hutchins’ death). It showed a complete and callous disregard for the son and husband Hutchins tragically left behind. Just… utterly vile. And telling.
Let’s just hope the Baldwins don’t finagle themselves into a People mag spread once the baby arrives. They’ve put the world through enough already.
I Refuse to Engage With The Slap™️ Discourse Any Further
And I assume Zoë Kravitz had wished she’d done the same.

Books On My Nightstand
There’s a lot of TV to catch up on and I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with it all TBH. (I’m still slugging my way through Bridgerton season 2, and also keeping up with WeCrashed, The Girl From Plainville, and Super Pumped.)
I’m also trying to catch up on some of the books I’ve recently purchased, too, which I’m equally excited about!
“The Hunting Party” by Lucy Foley: I’m a huge fan of Lucy Foley’s twisty page turners (ie, “The Guest List” and “The Paris Apartment.”) I’ve had this one on standby for weeks now and haven’t had time to finish it, but I know once I get into it I won’t be able to stop.
“Astrid Sees All” by Natalie Standiford: I picked this one up at a McNally-Jackson bookstore because a coming-of-age tale set in ‘80s Manhattan sounds right up my alley. Will keep you posted.
“The Woman Destroyed” by Simone De Beavoir: We love books narrated by messy and unhinged women. I’ve been recommended this book for years and I’m excited to finally dig into it!
Psst—I discuss Hilaria more on my next episode of “So True With Sophie Ross,” out on Tuesdays!
